Evidence of witnesses
One of the most important factors in any claim is the evidence of witnesses.
This is particularly so when they are completely independent of anyone involved in the accident.
So, if you have been involved in any accident where you have been injured, it is important that where possible you get the details of any independent witnesses.
If for any reason you are unfortunately incapacitated, try and get a friend/relative or even a helpful onlooker to get their name/address/telephone number for you.
You should do this, even if the police are already getting those details. This is because the release by police of witness details can often take some time.
Don't be afraid to ask out loud at the scene if anyone saw what happened. You'll be surprised how many times people come forward when asked.
Once they have left the scene then chances of ever tracing them greatly diminish.
